Continuing its series of presentations to The Star (Student Transition to Adult Readiness) classroom in Providence, the RI Cross Disability Coalition’s Tanja Blicker-Ucran provided students the opportunity to hear the stories of small business owners, all previous participants of the RI Developmental Disabilities Council’s Self Employment Project’s business class series.
Guest presenters for the class were Jack Carfagna, from Mr. C’s Olde Thyme Scents, candles, wax melts, room sprays and carpet sprinkles; Katie Lowe from Cheetah Greetings, hand-made greeting and note cards, pins and more; and Nathan Markley podcaster. Their varied backgrounds, interests, skills, and passion brought all of them to start their own businesses.
They explained their business success and challenges, and openly shared their personal stories with a very engaged group of thirty students.
