Our Feb. 3rd CDC meeting was held at RIPIN due to the Liobrary being unavailable. WOW! They have very nice offices and a large conference room.
Featured this month was Barbara Henry telling us about the driverless shuttle that is being reviewed on a fixed route in Providence. This is a DOT venture and not connected with RIPTA. She was very impressed with the service and the monitor that is on board should a problem arise. The shuttle is called “LITTLE ROADY” and customer service # is: 222-2450. If you have wheelchair needs, you need to call ahead.
Next, we had Olivia Williams, graduate student, present a survey that will become a part of her Masters project: Improving RIPTA communication barriers between RIPTA and its customers. She explained each question as we went along. The results will be used as a basis for her project.
We asked all in attendance whatthey wanted to see us pursue for programs in the coming months. Among the items mentioned were: testifying, Speakers Bureau programs, Sign Language classes and some opportunities for just socializing. Such things as movies where on screen closed captioning is offered and going out to eat somewhere were mentioned.
March 2nd meeting will be at the Warwick Public Library but April, May and June meetings may have to be moved due to construction. Stay tuned.
