The Cross Disability Coalition meeting was held on May 6, 2019 1-3pm at the Warwick Public Library. This month’s topics were Written Testimony, and Basic Public Speaking Tips.
Cross Disability Coalition Coordinator Deanne Gagne, welcomed everyone, Tanja Blicker Ucran, Cross Disability Coalition Coordinator read the minutes from the March meeting, and Cross Disability Coalition Coordinator Jack Ringland read the mission statement.
Cross Disability Coalition members were given information about how to write written Testimony, as well as, being encouraged to write support letters to the Senate Judiciary committee in support of Supported Decision Making, which would be an alternative to Guardianship for people with disabilities.
Tanja Blicker Uncran and Deanne Gagne, went over some Basic Public speaking tips whether you are testifying at the statehouse or doing a presentation at an agency, you need to dress nice, have good eye contact, be on time, have your speech written or bullets a head of time so you can cover everything you want to say.
